The PLL and the Patriot League are kindred spirits, PLL Awards will have a weird year, and New York's season in the balance. PLL Week 4 Overreactions
The PLL and the Patriot League have a lot in common During the college season, I believe that anyone who tells you they know what’s going to happen in the Patriot League is lying to you. It’s an unpredictable conference with results every week that seem completely out of touch logically with what had happened the week before. Results against common opponents mean nothing, trying to look at stats to predict an outcome is a fool’s errand. It’s best to just sit back and enjoy th

The Whips are the future, Asher Nolting might need a new home, and Brennan O'Neill is the assists leader. PLL Week 3 overreactions
The Whips are ahead of the curve Maryland 2-0 on their homecoming weekend. It’s the second time they’ve pulled that off since it became a thing in 2024. The rest of the league combined has done in twice. Maryland’s friday night execution against Boston was as good as I’ve ever seen in the PLL. I know we’re doing overreactions, but that’s just a fact. The ball was humming, players were moving. Coach Stagnitta pointed out postgame that even when they made a mistake, they made u

From 76 players down to one. Using 20 years of trends to pick the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Winner.
It’s been, as expected, a wide open year in men’s college lacrosse. The preseason number one team in the media poll missed the NCAA tournament. Teams were up and down the polls all year, new number ones being crowned all the time. Duke, who some thought shouldn’t even have made the NCAA tournament, made a run to the Final Four. An extension of the wide open landscape for teams, the race for the highest honor in the sport is wide open as well. The Tewaaraton Award, lacrosse’s

The 40 names I want to see at PLL Pro Day
PLL Pro Day will be held around Baltimore weekend at the end of this month. It’s an opportunity for undrafted and player pool players to be on the field against other pro level talent and earn their way onto a roster. In compiling this list, I stuck entirely to names that are available and not on a PLL 25 man roster. I did not consider their current day job (if they’re working on), if they’re even interested in being pros, or things like that which might impact availability

Mikey Boehm took someone's job, who needs CJ Kirst anyway, and it's New York's title to lose. PLL Week 1 Overreactions.
Philly doesn’t need CJ Kirst anyway The Waterdogs overcame a fairly slow start to win 16-14 over Maryland in their opener. The put up nine goals in the second quarter. They hit a trio of two pointers in the third. Maryland was able to battle back a bit in the fourth quarter, but the middle section of this game showed fans just what Philly can be capable of. And therein lies the rub. Philly has some personnel issues to sort through each week. They have to play two of Michael S

PLL Roster Designations: a Reference Guide
The 2026 PLL season kicks off on Friday night in Utah. As happens every year, the time period leading up to the opener, including training camp and the first game week, has a flurry of roster moves being made. It can be a lot for fans to digest. Names are coming and going, sometimes names are missing that fans expected to see. The basic roster structure in the PLL is that each team has a 25 man active roster. Each week 19 players are selected from that 25 for the gameday rost

The PLL stars still competing in the NLL playoffs
The NLL playoffs are underway, and have already delivered unforgettable moments. Halifax completed a comeback for the ages, erasing a seven goal deficit while holding Vancouver scoreless for the second half, sending the one seed home early. It was one of the most remarkable comebacks in pro lacrosse playoff history. San Diego scored a OT game winner that actually might not have been a game winner. Commissioner Brett Frood made a statement after the game that, after the leag

Updating the major PLL trades that were finally completed at the 2026 Draft
Sometimes, in the heat of the excitement around a trade being completed, we can forget that those future picks in a deal actually turn into players. And for GMs who did an exceptional job of tracking those picks over time, they're a valuable roster building asset. Several trades from the past two seasons, dating as far back as the Pat Kavanagh deal from November 2024, were finally completed last night. Meaning all the picks that changed hands now have a player attached to th

BREAKING: New rule requires staggered starts for NCAA lacrosse games.
Fan complaints about college lacrosse games all sharing a noon start time have been heard loud and clear, and answered. Today, the NCAA has announced a seismic shift in the rules around broadcast times for lacrosse games that should, just like whenever any lacrosse rules are changed, completely solve the targeted problem with no collateral damage to the sport whatsoever. The new rule dictates no men’s D1 college lacrosse games can share a start time. Ever. To comply, games w

Five names that are playing their way up PLL draft boards
The PLL Draft is set. On April 14th, live from Bristol, the names of the next 32 draftees will be ready on ESPN+. While mock drafts and big boards tend to be content for all seasons, there are some rising stars in the college game playing their way into the draft conversation who may have slid down the list. First round picks tend to be anointed almost a year ahead of time, and it can be easy to overlook players who may play themselves into a draft spot through on field perfo

Syracuse and Maryland lead the way, the ACC is stacked, and the defender group is deep. The 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List, by the numbers.
The initial 2026 Tewaaraton Watch list was released during Tuesday night’s game between Johns Hopkins and Towson on ESPNU. Considered to be the Heisman of lacrosse, the Tewaaraton is given annually to the nation’s most outstanding college lacrosse player in both the men’s and women’s game. Historically, the men’s award skews heavily towards attackmen. Of the initial list of 50 players, 14 are attackmen. The only two sophomores on the list, Hunter Aquino (listed at midfield th

Getting old all at once, Toronto loving the Calgary season, Keegan Bal is crushing it, and the right way to fight. NLL Week 11 Overreactions.
The Bandits need to come back to Earth but in a different way Look, nothing lasts forever. What goes up must come down. All that good stuff. But I thought the Bandits had come back to Earth after their three year run LAST week. THIS week, the losing streak stretched to four in a row. They lost on their home floor in front of a sold out crowd to a Wings team that came in with a 1-6 record. The Bandits haven’t lost four in a row since 2018 (that might sound recently but folks i

Buffalo returns to earth, Brett Dobson for MVP, Vegas is a hot bed, candid talk about big hits, and it's Colorado's title to lose. NLL Week 10 Overreactions.
Welcome back to earth, Buffalo The Bandits got smacked by Colorado on Saturday, 20-9. Not a typo. They gave up 20 goals. It’s their third straight loss. The three time defending champions have just one other three game losing streak in that span. Since 2022, they lost three straight once in 2024, and now their current losing streak. Sustained success in pro sports, any sport, is hard to achieve. Just making it to back to back NLL Finals would have been an impressive measure o

Schedule changes due to weather for NCAA lacrosse Week 0.
This is what happens when you start the season in January! Last weekend most of the country had snow and ice dumped all it, with some places in the northeast and New England pushing two feet of powder. Regular season play is set to start this weekend, and mother nature has decided to intervene. Another storm is brewing that should bring frigid temperatures and yet more snow and ice. As a result, several games have already had their venue or time adjusted. Hofstra and Towson h

Ottawa on a new trajectory, the NLL is anti-woke, and it's Georgia's title to lose. NLL Week 9 overreactions.
Ottawa is doing things slightly differently this year Even back to the Riptide days, this Black Bears team had a pretty standard MO from year to year. Jeff Teat produces like one of the best players in the world, and then they miss the playoffs. In fact, this franchise has yet to make the playoffs. Last year they got close, and were in the mix for a playoff spot in the final week of the regular season. In 2026, Jeff Teat is once again playing like one of the best players in t

They finally got the kid some run support A few weeks ago I made a Brett Dobson : Gaylord Perry comp. Perry was an MLB pitcher who put up some truly incredible pitching stats, including in 1968, a year in which he lost 19 games. Brett Dobson currently owns the best save percentage in the league at 86.9%, and the league’s best GAA at a miniscule 6.71. Georgia entered the weekend with a 2-3 record. They have a 7-4 loss to the Rush and more recently a 7-5 loss to the Mammoth. T
