First ever PLL Pro Day to be held in Baltimore in late May; will invite only for undrafted and player pool players.

Updated: Apr 23

With training camp underway this week in Philadelphia for all eight clubs, the Premier Lacrosse League has added another talent and evaluation focused day to the league calendar. The league will hold its first PLL Pro Day in late May, leading into PLL Baltimore homecoming weekend.

PLL Pro Day will be an invite only event. Undrafted college players, along with current members of the PLL player pool, will be invited to participate in drills, scrimmages, and game situations. They will be evaluated by PLL coaches and general managers on site. Undrafted players who participate will be eligible to be claimed via waivers on Monday, June 1.

In addition to undrafted players and player pool talent, players drafted in round three or round four of the 2026 PLL draft are eligible to participate. A team GM may place these players on the Evaluation List, signaling they are PLL Pro Day participants. A player on the evaluation list does not count against the team roster cap. For late round picks who miss training camps, this is an opportunity for coaches and GMs to see them play against pro level talent without necessarily committing a game day roster spot in a future week. On Monday, June 1, players on the evaluation list can be added to the 25 man roster or released to the player pool.

The exact date and location is not yet official, but PLL Pro Day will be held in the greater Baltimore area on a date leading into the PLL Baltimore homecoming weekend. PLL Pro Day has to be held after the NCAA tournament concludes so that the third and fourth round draft picks are able to participate, it has to be held in a place where all PLL coaches and GMs can easily attend, and it has to be held prior to the June 1st waiver claim date for participants; the Baltimore weekend is the most logical time to have the event.

All eight PLL teams are currently without some number of their regular 25 man roster players for Philadelphia training camp. Regular season schedule expansion led to overlap with the NLL and college lacrosse seasons, so players who coach lacrosse at the high school or college level, are in the NLL playoffs, or are newly drafted and still finishing their college seasons aren’t able to be at training camp. Some may also miss opening day on May 9.  A silver lining is that all eight clubs are still filling their rosters by inviting talent from the player pool and undrafted players to camp. That opportunity, combined with PLL Pro Day, represent new ways for players to gain the attention of PLL GMs and make their way into the league.

The list of invitees, and number of invitees, is not yet known. But there were several names that went uncalled on draft day which were met with surprise. Lehigh defender Richard Checo, Richmond attackman Aidan O’Neill, Colgate midfielder Hunter Drouin, and Syracuse attackman Finn Thomson are all likely to get an invite. Goalies and faceoff specialists were unrepresented on draft night, though there was pro level talent available. Princeton goalie Ryan Croddick is also a strong candidate for PLL Pro Day.
