NLL Playoffs have started, here's how it affects PLL player availability

Updated: May 20, 2023

The NLL Playoff Picture is set. For some PLL fans, this might not mean much. Not everyone who watches the NLL watches the PLL and vice versa. However, the two leagues do have a slight overlap in their season. The NLL Finals are a three game series to determine the league champion. The first two games will be played during Memorial Day Weekend, overlapping with the NCAA Final Four. Game three, if necessary, will be played on the weekend of June 2-4. That’s the first weekend of the PLL season, which is played in Albany.

Last year, there was a three week overlap, so progress was made here in terms. One week, at most, isn’t bad. If the NLL Finals don’t go three games, there is no overlap. However, with the draft around the corner and a free agency period to follow, PLL clubs will need to start preparing for the possibility of players being absent for that first week or the week of camp as they compete for an NLL title.

Eight teams make the playoffs in the NLL, so there are six teams that already are done, and the PLL clubs with players on those teams already know those players will be available, barring injury or something of that sort. Every NLL team is listed here, along with the players on their roster that are also currently rostered by PLL clubs. Teams that have been eliminated are marked, showing that those players won’t miss time this PLL summer due to NLL commitment.

This will be updated throughout the NLL Playoffs. The information is valuable as fans try to understand why certain PLL clubs may bring in new talent, draft a player that seems redundant, and things of that nature. Planning for that first week absence is important.

Players with specific roster designations, in either league, are flagged with the corresponding tag. NLL or PLL Holdout List, Injured List, and so forth. Protected players, practice players, and holdout list players in the NLL should be considered available for PLL play.
