A joint venture from two professional lacrosse leagues is expected to be announced in the coming days. The first major project of the groundbreaking media partnership between the PLL and NLL will be the launch of a new podcast studio, complete with a line up of 17 new lacrosse podcasts. While hosts for the shows have not yet been announced, the expectation is that they will be led by current players, former players, members of the lacrosse media, and anonymous social media accounts with sufficiently high engagement levels.
The entire podcast lineup has not been announced, but sources tells Sticks In that a brief preview of some of the new podcasts include:
The Power Play. Finally, a podcast focused on power play offense. Meant to focus specifically on extra man offense, the Power Play will cover all the biggest plays in pro lacrosse where one team had more players than the other, but only from the offensive perspective, because that’s what sells. “It’s not going to be like any of the other podcasts out there. We’re not going to have any fluff. Just a raw, unfiltered look at the biggest stories in lacrosse, with high level analysis and some great guests along the way,” said league leadership.
Out the Front Door. Finally, a lacrosse podcast dedicated to players subbing on to play offense in box lacrosse. This show will focus on the critical moments in the indoor game as defenders either push tempo to try and create a numbers advantage, or sub off to let the scorers who are actually good get on the floor. “It’s not going to be like any of the other podcasts out there. We’re not going to have any fluff. Just a raw, unfiltered look at the biggest stories in lacrosse, with high level analysis and some great guests along the way,” said league leadership.
Staying Big. Finally, a lacrosse podcast dedicated to the goalie position. A weekly podcast, this show will spend 15 minutes per episode talking about that Kyle Bernlohr save. They will also share daily video of the hosts submitting DMCA takedown requests for any and all content on the internet with a title that includes the name Joe Seider. “It’s not going to be like any of the other podcasts out there. We’re not going to have any fluff. Just a raw, unfiltered look at the biggest news in lacrosse, with high level analysis and some great guests along the way,” said league leadership.
Yes, Two Ways About It. Finally, a lacrosse podcast dedicated to midfielders who play both ends of the field and/or floor. It’s a celebration of the sport becoming less specialized despite how often you hear about it becoming more specialized. Expect to hear a lot of talk about certain player’s ability being overlooked at whichever end of the field he spends less time on. “It’s not going to be like any of the other podcasts out there. We’re not going to have any fluff. Just a raw, unfiltered look at the biggest news in lacrosse, with high level analysis and some great guests along the way,” said league leadership.
Taking out the Kayak. Finally, a podcast dedicated to defenseman throwing reckless checks in pursuit of causing turnovers and hopefully getting clipped for social media. Total disregard will be given to the entire game film as context, because if the defender causes three turnovers and the attackman scores four goals, that’s a wash, and don’t let anyone tell you differently. “It’s not going to be like any of the other podcasts out there. We’re not going to have any fluff. Just a raw, unfiltered look at the biggest news in lacrosse, with high level analysis and some great guests along the way,” said league leadership.
The Clamp. Finally, a podcast dedicated to the faceoff. This podcast is dedicated to discussing the technique, skill, and physical demands of excelling at the faceoff position, though most likely will just wander into talking about the rules and officiating for 90 minutes twice a week. “It’s not going to be like any of the other podcasts out there. We’re not going to have any fluff. Just a raw, unfiltered look at the biggest news in lacrosse, with high level analysis and some great guests along the way,” said league leadership.
The Rope Unit. Finally, a lacrosse podcast dedicated to SSDMs and LSMs. If you’ve read the other descriptions to this point, by now you probably realize that this podcast is redundant. Which, in today’s lacrosse media landscape, also makes it essential. Just like the positions to which this podcast is dedicated, we need this show, but we don’t REALLY need this show. “It’s not going to be like any of the other podcasts out there. We’re not going to have any fluff. Just a raw, unfiltered look at the biggest news in lacrosse, with high level analysis and some great guests along the way,” said league leadership.
The Your Last Name With a Y On It Show. Finally, a podcast dedicated to the art of giving lacrosse players a nickname simply by taking their last name and adding a Y to the end of it. This show will also focus on really getting into the fine details of what to do when it’s not as simple as just adding a Y, like with Ryan Ambler or Brennan O’Neill. “It’s not going to be like any of the other podcasts out there. We’re not going to have any fluff. Just a raw, unfiltered look at the biggest news in lacrosse, with high level analysis and some great guests along the way,” said league leadership.
First Take. Finally, a lacrosse podcast that stops pretending it’s not just trying to do First Take level content to farm engagement numbers by saying things they don’t even actually believe just to make listeners interact. If you want to argue about questions that can’t actually be answered like “is Liam Entenmann better than Michael Sowers”, “Who really NEEDS this game more”, or “Could Gary Gait get you two and two if he suited up in the PLL this weekend”, this is the show for you. The show will ask the questions that serve nobody, clip them for social media, and then answer them in a way that sends you immediately the comments, either to doom scroll or participate in debate with burners that also serves nobody. “It’s not going to be like any of the other podcasts out there. We’re not going to have any fluff. Just a raw, unfiltered look at the biggest news in lacrosse, with low level analysis and some great guests along the way,” said league leadership.
The podcasts will launch simultaneously on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, capturing the key overlap time of college, NLL, and PLL lacrosse. Sources told Sticks In that fans should expect each podcast to run for at least 4 episodes before disappearing without explanation.
This is a developing fake story.
